Description

A Controls Systems Engineer at Hanley Energy plays a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of mission-critical infrastructure by designing and implementing advanced automation and control systems for multinational clients. This position involves programming PLC/HMI systems, developing SCADA systems, designing and modifying electrical, network, and software system drawings, testing automation systems, and preparing essential project documentation. The role requires expertise in PLC and SCADA applications, familiarity with industrial communication networks, and the ability to interpret electrical schematics.

Controls Systems Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Designing/programming PLC/HMI systems
  • Designing/developing SCADA systems
  • Automation and Controls design on a range of projects
  • Developing/Modifying Electrical, Network and Software System drawings
  • Testing automation systems and control panels
  • Preparing project documentation such as URS, FDS and O & M Manuals
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting for automation systems
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project integration
  • Conducting risk assessments and safety audits on automation systems
  • Training and mentoring junior engineers and technicians
  • Staying updated with industry trends and new technologies
  • Managing project timelines and budgets to ensure timely delivery



Job Qualifications

Requirements for the position:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in PLC & SCADA application development
  • Ideally experienced in RSLogix 500/5000, FTView SE, Ignition SCADA
  • Knowledge of industrial communication networks and protocols
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematic drawings
  • Relevant 3rd level engineering qualification
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with fluent English
  • Switchgear experience
  • Data Centre experience
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
